Ancient RO (ANRO) is a Pre-Renewal Ragnarok Online
server for players who miss the classic days. You level fast at 150x,
but you still have to earn every MVP card and rare drop.
This guide has everything you need to know about the server: how to
start playing, the rates, the commands, the freebies, the events and the
rules. Use the menu on the left, or the search box, to find a topic.

Any device with a browser, including Linux, Mac, Android and iOS (Play Anywhere)
Fill in a username, a password (at least 8 characters), your e-mail
and your birthdate.
Check your e-mail. We send you an activation link
from [email protected].
Open the link. The website shows Account activated,
and you can now log in.
No e-mail? Check your Spam or Promotions folder. If
the link does not open when you tap it, copy it and paste it into your
browser's address bar.
Unconfirmed accounts are removed after 48 hours, so activate yours
right away.
Pre-Registration
Every confirmed account counts toward the Pre-Registration
Community Goal. The more players sign up, the bigger the launch
rewards for everyone. See Freebies &
Rewards.
Extract it to a folder you can write to, for example
C:\Games\AncientRO. Avoid
C:\Program Files.
Open AncientRO Patcher.exe. Always start the game
from the patcher so you get the latest updates.
Install the Korean fonts
(important)
The game uses the Gulim font. Without it, the text in the
game is tiny and hard to read.
Open Windows Settings > Apps > Optional
features (Windows 11: Settings > System >
Optional features).
Click Add a feature (or View
features).
Search for Korean Supplemental Fonts, select it and
install it.
Restart the game.
Game Settings
Use Game Settings in the patcher to change your
resolution, window mode and sound before you play.
Play Anywhere
You can play Ancient RO on any device with a web
browser: Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook,
Android phones and tablets, and iPhone or iPad. Your account, characters
and items are the same on every device, so you can start on your PC and
continue on your phone.

Use an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Firefox or

The first load takes a little longer while the game data downloads.
After that it starts faster.
On phones and tablets, the game shows touch controls (joystick,
attack and skill buttons).
On Linux and Mac you don't need Wine or any extra programs. Just
open the browser.
We will announce on Facebook and Discord the moment the browser
and mobile versions open.
The Patcher
AncientRO Patcher.exe keeps your game up to date.
Every time you open it, it checks our server for new patches, downloads
them and installs them into your game files.

"Update failed"
If the patcher says None of the patch servers are
available:
Check your internet connection and click Check
again.
Make sure your antivirus or firewall is not blocking the
patcher.
Still failing? Ask us on Discord. We can send you the patch file to
install with Manual patch.
Antivirus warning
Some antivirus programs flag new, unsigned game patchers as
suspicious. This is a false alarm. We have reported it to Microsoft. If
Windows blocks the patcher, click More info > Run
anyway, or add the game folder to your antivirus
exceptions.
First Steps
New characters start in Prontera. Here is what to do
first.
Claim your Starter Pack. Talk to the
Freebies Helper in Prontera (141, 181). See Freebies & Rewards.
Turn on autoloot. Type @autoloot so
items go straight to your inventory. See Player
Commands.
Change your look. Visit the
Stylist in Prontera (170, 180) for free hairstyles,
hair colors and cloth colors.
Get moving. Use @go to teleport to
towns. Fly Wings are not needed.
Join the community. Find a party or a guild on Discord.
Tip: Level rewards wait for you at Base Lv 50, 99, 150, 200 and 255.
Don't forget to claim them.
PK: every field and dungeon is a PK zone. Fight
other players by turning on @pk; towns are always safe. No
EXP loss when a player kills you. See PK System.
Server Time: GMT+8 (Philippine time). All schedules
in this guide use server time.

Type these commands in the chat box.

Picks up all drops automatically. Type it again to turn it off. You

Picks up only the items you list.

Keeps your vending shop open after you log out.

Protects your monsters from kill stealing.

Turns your PK state on or off. With PK ON you can fight other
players with PK ON in fields and dungeons. See PK

Opens the Branch Room menu (rooms and
branches). Works in towns.

Removes all monsters in your Private Branch Room (no loot).
Shows the next event and when it starts, or joins the event that is
open now.
@join invasion
Joins the Satan Morroc Invasion while it is open.

Shows your Event Points.
@guess <monster name>
Your answer in the Disguise Event.

Auto System
The @autoset menu: pick a line, change it, and the menu shows your new setting.
The Auto System lets your character hunt, support your party and
drink potions by itself for a few hours a day. It runs on the server, so
it works the same on PC, web browser and Android. There
is no Auto button on mobile: everyone uses the same commands below.

Turns Auto Support on or off. Your character heals
party members and keeps your chosen buffs up. It follows your party

Opens the settings menu: skills, heal %, buffs and potions.
@autotime
Shows how much auto time you have left today.
Auto Potion works with either mode. Set your HP and SP potions in
@autoset. Use @autoloot too if you want to
pick up drops.

Only skills your character has learned show up in the menu. Settings
are saved per character.
Daily time
Every account gets 3 hours free per day. It resets
at 00:00 server time (Philippine time).
Need more? Use a Hunter's Hourglass for +1
hour. Buy it at the Event Shop for
10 EP.
You can use up to 3 Hourglasses per day, so the
most is 6 hours a day.
Free time and Hourglass time you don't use are gone at midnight.
Unused Hourglass items stay in your inventory.
Online only. Auto stops when you log out or
disconnect. There is no offline auto.
You stay in control. If you move, attack or use a
skill yourself, auto pauses for 5 seconds and then continues.
Not allowed in: towns, War of Emperium, PvP arenas,
Battlegrounds, event maps and the Gold Room.
PK fields and dungeons are allowed. If your PK is ON, other players with PK ON can attack you while
auto runs.
No MVPs or bosses. Auto Hunt never goes after MVPs
or mini-bosses. It only fights back if one attacks you.
No kill stealing. Auto Hunt skips monsters that
another player is already fighting.
AFK check. About every 60 to 90 minutes a quick
check pops up. Answer it within 60 seconds or auto turns off.
Up to 2 characters per player can use auto at the
same time.
Auto stops by itself if you die, reach 90% weight or run out of
time.
Using outside bots or macros is still against the Server Rules. The Auto System is the only allowed way
to play automatically.
PK System
Ancient RO is a PK server. Every field and dungeon
is a PK zone, and you decide if you want to fight other
players with the @pk command. Towns are always safe.
The @pk command
Type @pk in the chat box to turn your PK state on or
off.
PK state
What it means
ON
In fields and dungeons you can attack, and be attacked by, other
players who also have PK ON.
OFF
Other players can't attack you, and you can't attack them.
New characters start with PK OFF.
Your PK state is saved per character, even after you log out.
You can't turn PK off within 30 seconds after you
hit or get hit by another player. No running away mid-fight.
No level limit. Any character, even a Novice, can
join PK by turning it on.
Party members can't hurt each other.

Talk to the Freebies Helper in Prontera (141, 181).
Rewards are given once per character and are
bound to that character (they can't be traded).
Make sure you have free inventory space before you claim.

Gold Room
The Gold Room is a special map full of gold monsters, with a
weekly ranking and prizes.

How to enter
Talk to the Gold Room NPC in Prontera (164,
150).
Entry: TBA. A Free Gold Room Pass lets you in
for free. You get passes from Level Rewards, the
weekly ranking and the Event Shop (15 EP).
At the entrance you answer a quick color check.
Three wrong answers lock you out for 10 minutes.
One account per player (one per IP address) inside
the Gold Room.
Inside
While you are inside, an AFK check pops up every 20
to 40 minutes. Answer it within 60 seconds or you are sent back to
town.
Monsters respawn every minute, so there is always something to
hunt.
What the gold is used for: TBA.
Weekly Ranking
Players are ranked by TBA every week. The ranking resets every
Monday at 00:00 server time, and prizes are sent by
RODEX (in-game mail). Prizes are account-bound.

Branch Room
The Branch Room is where you summon MVPs and monsters with branches.
Use it alone, with your party, or in the free public room.

Talk to the Branch Room NPC in Prontera (164, 156),
or type @branchroom in any town to open the same menu.
Public Room: free and shared with everyone.
Private Room: your own room for you or your party.

Branches only work inside the Branch Room. If you
use one anywhere else, nothing is summoned and you get the item
back.

Rare MVP Cards can't drop here. Randgris, Gloom Under Night and Ygnizem

MVP card rate in the Branch Room: 0.25% (1 in 400
kills). Normal monster cards drop at the usual rates.
Max 40 monsters alive in a room at a time. Defeat
some before you summon more.

You alone, or your whole party
In a party, only the party leader can rent the
room. Party members then talk to the Branch Room NPC (or type
@branchroom) and pick Private Room to
enter.
One Private Room per account at a time.
Type @clearroom inside your Private Room to remove all
monsters (no loot). Handy if a bad MVP shows up.
You get a warning 5 minutes and 1 minute before the time is up, then
everyone is sent back to Prontera.
An empty Private Room closes after 10 minutes, so don't leave it for
too long.
Good to know
Auto Hunt is not allowed in the Branch Room.
You can't save, teleport or use memo in the room. Use Back
to Prontera at the Branch Merchant, or a Butterfly Wing, to
leave.
Event Silver Coins come from the automated Events.
Events & Daily Quests
Automated Events
One random event starts every 2 hours, all day,
every day (00:00, 02:00, 04:00 ... 22:00 server time). The same event
never repeats until all 7 have run. The Next Event box
on the home page shows which one is
next.
How it works:
At HH:00 the event is announced. Type
@join to enter.
At HH:03 joining closes (arena events only; town
events stay open the whole time).
At HH:05 the event starts.

Satan Morroc Invasion
Every day at 05:00, 13:00 and 21:00 server time,
Satan Morroc attacks a random town (never Prontera). Type
@join invasion to go there.
Two waves of his minions come first, then Satan Morroc himself.
Dying in the town costs no EXP.
Only the player who lands the last hit wins:
10 EP plus a chance at an Event Silver Coin (5%) or an
Event Gold Coin (0.1%). The whole server hears about it.
If nobody kills him in 30 minutes, he leaves.

Event Points (EP) belong to your account and can't
be traded. Type @ep to see yours.
At the Event Shop in Prontera (164, 173) you can
trade 100 EP for 1 Event Silver Coin, and 5
Silver Coins for 1 Event Gold Coin. Coins can
be traded with other players.

Quest Shop
The Quest Shop in Prontera (147, 173) crafts gear
you can only get on Ancient RO. Pick a tab (Wings,
Headgears or Weapons), bring the zeny
and materials listed below, then craft. The materials are used up when
you craft. You can click the item link in the NPC window to see the item
picture.

Rare MVP Card limit: you can only wear
2 of these at the same time: Lord Knight, Assassin
Cross, Whitesmith, High Priest, Sniper and Memory of Thanatos. With 3 or
more equipped, none of them work until you remove the
extra ones.

3% chance to Curse and Blind the target with melee attacks. Physical
damage against Undead monsters +10%. Killing a monster with a melee
attack restores 1% of MaxHP and 5 SP.
Turtle General Card

cast Level 5 Magnum Break with physical attacks.

After-cast delay -8%. Cast time -5%. MaxSP +5%.

Rare MVP Cards drop at 0.5%. Some of them can also

Valkyrie Set
The Valkyrie set is a donation item. It is
not dropped by monsters (Randgris no longer drops it).
Get it at the Donation Shop in Prontera.
All pieces are indestructible in battle and can be worn by every job
except Novice.

Diablo Set
The Diablo set is a donation item and the attack
partner of the Valkyrie set. It is not dropped by
monsters. Get it at the Donation

worn by every job except Novice.

Can I play on Linux, Mac or
my phone?
Yes. Ancient RO runs in the web browser on any
device, including Linux, Mac, Chromebook, Android and iOS. No Wine or
extra programs needed. See Play

Can I use more than one
account?
Yes, as long as you are at the keyboard. In the Gold Room only one
account per player is allowed. See Server
Rules.
Can other players kill me?
Only if you turn PK on. Every field and dungeon is a PK zone, but
only players with @pk ON can fight each other. Towns are
always safe, and you lose no EXP when a player kills you. See PK System.
Is there an auto attack?
Yes, the built-in Auto System:
@autohunt, @autosupport and
@autoset. Every account gets 3 hours a day, and up to 6
with Hunter's Hourglasses from the Event Shop.
I forgot my password
Click Forgot Password on the website and follow the
e-mail.
Where do I report a bug or
a player?
On our Discord. Confirmed
bug reports are rewarded.
